Lee Camp #1 Soldiers’ Home that occupied these grounds. It was dedicated May 8, 1887, in memory of the 260,000 Confederate dead who gave their lives during the War Between the States. Over 1700 Confederate Veterans were honored at the Chapel with funeral services before joining their brothers-in-arms at Hollywood Cemetery here in Richmond, Virginia.
